Whitewashproject
Objects, Whitewash project, 2009
I started the Whitewash Project in 2009, as a follow up to Objects 1. The first step - certainly not the easiest one, was to abandon all colour in order to be able to entirely focus on the concept. The project is a series of white graffiti sprayed canvases. The overall feel of the final piece is influenced by Mondriaan and takes the form of white works. The project obliges me to step into the role of observer as well as creator.
I question the success of commercial art with works such as; “Made in China”, “Beautiful Flowers”, “Nice Landscape” and “Colourful Abstract” and at the same time look for interaction with the public by questioning the truth that lies in text and the truth (or non-truth) that lies in art.
